This a good quality map clearly showing the many hiking trails and designated trail head locations available in the Sedona area. I would have like to have seen more parking information, road type, and street names on this map. Some of the roads to the trails require high ground clearance vehicles with 4WD recommended. Parking for the trail heads is very limited at some locations. This map proved to be beneficial for planning hikes while in Sedona.Product details

Very detailed, topographic map, clearly marked trails. It also shows the location of the viewpoints. I found it accurate and a great companion for the "Great Sedona Hikes" trail guide.
Highly recommended. Must have if you intend to hike trails around Sedona.
We were heading to Sedona for mountain biking, so bought this ahead of time to plan our trip. Wasn't too pleased with it. The trails are not coded on the map as to which are for biking, so had to cross-reference them each time with the trail descriptions on the side of the map. Rather awkward. We ended up purchasing another map from a bike shop in Sedona that was much better, color-coded trails make it clear where bikes are allowed and what level the trail is.
The dirt roads are labeled very poorly, if at all, and are faint on the map. So it's easy to find the hike you want to take, but a challenge to figure out how to get there.
Perfectly zoomed and sized map to plan out your hike for Sedona. My fiancé and I used this map to plan out our hikes and it was perfect! We tried using the National Geographic map, but it did not have the detail that was needed like this map. If you're going to be hiking in Sedona, this map is a must! Best money that I've spent on a map for hiking! Awesome map!
I haven't hiked all the trails in Sedona but I bought this map prior to a visit to the area and was glad to have it. It's not a substitute for a good guide book but it's what you want to have with you on the trail along with a compass and an altimeter. (and lots of water!)
I liked that it has the altitude diagrams for most of the trails so you can see what the elevation gain over distance is at a glance. Yes experienced map readers can glean that information off the contour lines but having it shown as a graph makes it truly easy. Also a table of trails which are open or closed to bikes is also nice.
Missing is a compass rose with Magnetic declination on it for aligning your compass with true North. These compass roses are on all USGS maps and it would have been easy to put on this map. With GPS it's not as necessary but there's no reason not to.
The paper is vinyl coated which makes it nearly waterproof. I left my copy with the hosts at the B&B in Sedona and they were very impressed with it.
In general a very nice map of the region.
Very helpful and detailed map. I dont know if it is out of date or what but it is missing a few details such as a few official trail heads. It also doesnt have some other well used "unofficial" trails that are well documented in some other books, but I think this map is meant to cover only the official trails (otherwise it would be VERY messy). The road names on the map are a little confusing too as most are not named. I usually just looked at the map and compared it with google maps or my GPS/Garmin. All that said it was still the best map available, its durable, waterproof, and huge. But you can fold it down small enough to use it on the trails.
